Hello,
I usually post this to Massbird but it was on hiatus back in June. The post below was on the Western Mass Facebook page but thought I would post it here for non Facebook folk.
Glad Massbird is back up. Thanks Barbara.

Mt Greylock
On Wednesday, June 3 we did our annual 9.5 mile hike up to the Saddleball ridge (3000’+ elevation)on Mt Greylock. The ridge is covered with spruce and fir and is some of the best northern New England habitat in the state. This year we missed both Swainson’s Thrush (had 3 in 2020 and 1 in 2021) and Blackpoll Warbler(5 in 2021, 3 in 2022, 1 in 2025). Does not seem to bode well for these northern birds in Mass. Interesting to note that Blackburnian Warblers have increased significantly since we started. Almost never out of earshot along the ridge. Only 1 Winter Wren this year and in some years we have had as many as 8.
