I was up in the Adirondacks for a long 4th weekend and unexpectably finally got a Spruce Grouse. I've been hoping to find one in NY for ages. I just happened to be driving along the St. Regis River just outside of St. Regis Falls on S. River Rd. and spotted a female Spruce Grouse with atleast two chicks just about to cross the road from the edge of the river as some idiots in an ATV came flying by just missing hitting them. The female just was able to fly out fo the way and in front of us and get out of the way and the chicks just made it back towards the river. Those people have no respect for wildlife for sure. So glad to finally get the grouse. Number 403 for the state:-)
