It is with deep sadness we notify the birding community about the passing of Barb Deihl on July 4. Barb was a passionate birder and an advocate for birds all of her life. A retired science teacher and frequent contributor to Tweeters over decades, she made many posts concerning her bird observations. Long and Short-eared Owls, Merlins, Snowy Owls, and Prairie Falcons were on top of her list. She was active in finding and monitoring Merlin nests in the Seattle area in the 2008 to 2016 time frame. We remember her giving presentations at various birding festivals. She received the education award from Seattle Audubon in 2011.
