Is going slow! As befits the date. I have been trying for BB cuckoo a lot. It’s been nice
Walking trails in parks. Very birdy! It should start slowing down with song soon though.
I could be wrong - but it’s getting hard walking the trails. And buggy. I think I wait til
Migration now for missing passerines. Which is only the BB cuckoo and probably
Breeding in the county. Or not.
I was very pleased with Lost bridge! And the water levels. The river is finally looking good
For shorebirds. As is that far flooded farmers field. Yea! There’s hope still for 225. I was going
To officially lower my goal to 220, but was thinking through what I still need. It’s still
Possible! I do have travel starting again in august. Plus 2 sets of east coast friends coming
Through. We have plans to get together. Etc. plus AJ jolly lake in Kentucky. Drawn
Down! That actually will be a priority for me assuming it’s still looking good for shorebirds!
Dam work. So it won’t be happening again soon!
I’ll be up on Lake Erie for the headlands birding festival in Sept! That looks like fun! And
A great place to explore! And hopefully I will have time to bird Astabula. My ebird map has
That glaring white spot up there……. Last county in Ohio to get on the map! Fun!
Ok - here’s some birds I can reasonably expect to see over the next six months. Not
In any kind of order. GW Warbler, BB Cuckoo, Philly Vireo, Cape May Warbler. Bobolink,
Nelson’s Sparrow, screech owl, saw whet owl, black tern, Caspian tern. Common tern?
Sandhill crane, white Pelican, ross Goose, Cackling Goose. Sanderling, Bairds sandpiper
LB Dow. Stilt Sandpiper? LBBG. Etc. olive sided fly. Grasshopper sparrow? Little Blue
Heron. Whistling Duck. Mourning warbler.
I won’t see all of these! But there’s hope!
Good birding all.
