Bill - I’m from the general area of those Quad Cities of which you speak, although most of the birding I’ve done along or near the river was from the Illinois-Wisconsin border northward from lock and dam 11. I have no TV set so I’ll just mention s few things.
In that area when you hear something you can’t place, I’ve found that you can rarely go wrong assuming that it’s an American Redstart. Many a time I did that with other birders and when we tracked down the bird, sure enough - redstart. Cerulean Warbler is another in that area along the river.
I wonder if that thrush might be a Veery?
