Subject: [slocobirding] Cliff Swallows on the move?
Hi Birders,

As I drove along Cottontail Creek Rd to Whale Rock Reservoir around 9:00 this morning I observed many Cliff Swallows circling over the reservoir. Rounding a bend there was something I do not remember seeing before. I estimated at least 2,000, maybe more, CLSW were resting on the road, gathered shoulder to shoulder and solidly covering the road from side to side. I approached the large group slowly in my car and watched as they casually began to disperse At first glance I thought that perhaps a large gravel truck had dumped its load! Fall migration begins??

Delightful morning surprise!
