Subject: Re: [sd-birds] LEOW nest update
Sunday night I checked in on the nest and everything is fine there still, noticed a 3rd adult LEOW flying around hunting nearby and stopping to hoot occasionally. It was around over the winter but I was unsure if it had stuck around until now, maybe offspring of the pair nesting now from last year that doesn't want to stray too far from Mom and Dad? 3 owlets visible in the nest so far.

Also heard some jays harassing something, and upon investigation it turns out there was an Eastern Screech Owl pair not more than 80yds from the LEOW nest trilling to eachother. Red morph male and grey morph female that were present in the same location over the winter, was pretty surprised to see them sharing territory with the LEOWs and now I'm wondering if they have a nest nearby. Went back today and the red morph was roosting in a tree and the gray morph seemed to be in a cavity that I couldn't quite get eyes on, softly trilling.
