First, for those who saw an alert for a Western Tanager, my error (unfortunately, right?). It was 2 Western Kingbirds at the Bald Knob Sub-Station.
However, at the Refuge are two birds of great interest. One is a COMMON TERN, flying over the first 3 cells across from the grainery.
The other is a full breeding plumage ROSEATE SPOONBILL, seen feeding in Cell 2. "He" is strikingly and oddly beautiful, and I encourage you to go see him if you can.
Lots of other wading birds: herons, egrets and BLACK-NECKED STILTS, plus several duck species including a Lesser Scaup.
