Central Park, Manhattan, N.Y. City - summer solstice Sunday, June 21st -
At least 5 species of migratory Americas-hemisphere warblers were in Central Park as summer officially began, including a singing male N. Parula, as well as singing male Blackpoll, plus the more typical-late-lingerer in many summers here Black-and-white Warblers - two are still lingering with one in the n. end, one at the Ramble area both for some weeks now, and also Yellow Warbler and Common Yellowthroat, each of the last 2 noted species possible-potential nesters in this park, and have bred in Manhattan multiple times.
. . .
We also have ongoing American Redstarts and Ovenbird, lingering on in
Manhattan to this start of summer in the city.
Happy Dads day, and happy summer solstice,
good birding,
