Subject: [slocobirding] American Oystercatcher was at North Point Natural Area, then took off up the coast
I was on my way to the MCAS Harmony Headlands bird walk this morning and stopped in at North Point Natural Area shortly before 7 a.m.

I was surprised to see the American Oystercatcher from Hazard Canyon there, peaceably hanging out with a Black Oystercatcher. (I think it's the same AMOY; at least, it has the same "female-type" pupil with the black extending into the iris.)

A couple more BLOYs showed up, then a Western Gull landed on the same rock the whole group was on, and the newly arrived Black Oystercatchers apparently decided that the rock wasn't big enough for all of them, so they chased the AMOY away.

It flew off up the coast at 7:20 a.m., in the company of the same BLOY it had been with originally.

I had texted Tom Edell and Steve Tillmann, but the bird flew before anyone else was able to arrive.

Perhaps it'll be relocated at Estero Bluffs, or farther north?
