Subject: [sd-birds] LEOW nest update
A few months back I posted about discovering a Long-eared Owl nest site, it turned out like the female was actually testing different nest sites and ended up not using that particular nest. About a month ago I found that she finally settled on another nest and began incubating eggs(assumed initially because she would not leave the nest for any reason) and last weekend I saw the first signs that the eggs had hatched. This morning I got my first view of two of the owlets, but I'm unsure how many total there are yet. I'm shocked the pair ended up choosing the location they did, but I won't elaborate on that too much because I'd prefer to keep the location as secret as possible for now as I do not want the Minneapolis birder circus to show up and crowd the owls.
