Subject: [sbcobirding] Northern Parula Records
To date, only 1/2 of the Northern Parulas found in the county (3 of 6, not counting a 7th at Santa Cruz Island) have made it into the eBird CBA California Bird Atlas. This may be one of those years that only comes around once in a decade, where the sheer number of Northern Parulas present in summer might point to possible breeding. This is cyclical and might not be repeated for many years, or outside the bird atlas 5-year period. Breeding was confirmed recently in Marin County. Just imagine the Parulas that might be going undetected this year. If you do see or hear a Parula, please consider adding it to CBA even if it is just an incidental checklist so these birds make it into the record and contribute to the picture being painted in 2026. Thanks!
