King Eider (Somateria spectabilis) (1)
- Reported Jun 14, 2026 19:06 by Tom Edell
- Morro Bay SP--Marina/Boardwalk Trail, San Luis Obispo, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.8418006&<ll...>,-120.8418006
- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S357630502
- Media: 2 Photos
- Comments: "Continuing Female. Large brown duck across the bay. Photographed but better seen through scope though still distant. Could see the overall brown coloration and black bill that sloped down from forehead. Breast looked pale in evening light. I could not see the white line extending back and down from behind the eye and never saw the underwing. Photo shows size compared to taller double-crested Cormorant. I saw this bird in about the same favored location yesterday, but because of the overcast sky, yesterday evening I could not see it as well with the scope. This bird has been present since at least Aug 2025 and may be in its third-year."

American Oystercatcher (Haematopus palliatus) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Jun 13, 2026 13:15 by Tiny Tartanella
- West Hazard Canyon--Montana de Oro SP, San Luis Obispo, California

- Comments: "Target species for the trip. Continuing at (35.283986, -120.886561). Observed foraging along the rocky shoreline. A single Black Oystercatcher accompanied it throughout the entire observation period. Vocalizations were noticeably different from the Black Oystercatcher and were independently picked up by Merlin Sound ID as American Oystercatcher. Plumage showed a gradual transition between the black upperparts and white underparts, rather than the sharp, clean boundary typical of American Oystercatcher."
