Dear Orange County Birders:
I am currently preparing the spring 2026 Orange County subregional summary. This summary will be sent to regional compiler Kimball Garrett, who will use this data in compiling the Southern California subregional report. If you know of any vagrants that were not reported to ebird (including species well outside normal habitat or seasonality, and/or unexpected breeders), or reported any sensitive species that are suppressed on ebird outputs (e.g., long-eared owl), please shoot me an email by this Friday, June 12th including the species, date of observation, location, and any documentary support (mandatory for California Bird Records Committee review list species).
Species observed at private residences will only be reported to the city-level. Only the most exceptional records will be included in Kimball's public report, most lower-level vagrants will only be seen by myself, Kimball, and possibly Ryan Winkleman and Doug Willick (who pre-edit my summary).
Records already reported in ebird or Ryan's weekly rarity roundup do not need to be reported to me.
Thanks, and good birding,
Samuel Bressler
