Upon arrival, I watched a monumental explosion of white water covering, surging over the two rock pinnacles seen beyond the point. The tall rock islands were overwhelmed, completely, covered by powerful surf, and coming into sight only as the wave heaved and ran toward the shore. Sets rolled through, gradually diminishing, but powerful. Grew up along this coast, and Pacific afar, and have never experienced such a scene. Awesome!
Birds - None seen until a single gull flew by. Later I spotted two rafts of kelp far, far beyond in mildly rolling waters - with pelicans, cormorants, and smaller, resting on smoother water. Upon leaving, the surf had subsided; the cormorants suddenly covered the pinnacle rocks, along with a few pelicans... just another ordinary day at the beach...:
