Hi again all,

Terry Rich kindly informs me that he wasn't the one who started the Bald Mountain BBS route. Here's what he wrote:

"Always nice to hear about what's happening on that route. It is really a great one due to the habitat diversity. And it is a great place to sort out the towhees, thrashers, and others in the sage - good for the brain.

"I did Bald Mountain for the first time in 2010. I had been doing the Sheldon and Virgin River routes since 2006. Janet Bair did Bald Mountain for a few years before 2010. I had to reroute part of the Sheldon route, from Badger Camp to the southern refuge boundary, because the road became overgrown and impassable in the dark in a regular vehicle."

Looking at the USGS BBS database, I guess 2006 through 2009 were the years when Janet Bair ran the Bald Mtn route. And there must have been someone else who ran it from 1992 through 2003. The Sheldon and Virgin River routes have been discontinued since 2020.

Always good to know the history of these routes!

Joel
