This is the first nesting record for this species anywhere in this portion of the Diablo Range. Amy and I have been observing the birds with some regularity in same the area for several years and have speculated that they were possibly established as a resident species. Susan’s confirmation makes this certain.
Amy and I have spent a lot of time at Coe since 1984 and other than the very recent return of California Condors, this is the most exciting bird event there in a very long time.
