Subject: [ia-bird] Lifers from China trip
Just returned from my first trip to China that included some birding, along with my Nikon camera. I recorded 66 lifers. When I left China for the US 40 years ago, I could identify little more than a sparrow. Adding the 378 lifers I’ve seen in the US, my total now stands at 444 photographed lifers.

According to eBird, there are 10,983 bird species in the world. Peter Kaestner, currently the world’s top eBirder, has observed 10,046 species and is presently visiting islands in India in search of even more.

Still a very long way to go! Here are a few highlights from China.
