This morning I had an adult Brandt’s Cormorant in the north-central/northeastern part of Pond A2W, west of Stevens Creek in Mountain View. I saw the bird from the southern side of the pond, and a scope was definitely needed to pick it out among the Double-crested Cormorants foraging there. I looked for it later from the Song Sparrow Spur Trail on the east side of the pond and could not find it.
Also in A2W today were an unseasonal Greater White-fronted Goose along the south shore, and a pair of nesting Black Skimmers and a pair of Black Oystercatchers on an island in the northwest corner of the pond.
