This morning I burned a couple brush piles and I saw a bird fly over me into the tree. It made a strange sound and I kept looking for it and I finally found it. It was a screech owl.
I've been hearing them at dusk and they make some strange vocalizations. Not your typical winnowing call? I've even heard a call that sounded like a saw wet but I think it has to be a screech.
I wonder if they're more active during the day when they have babies.
