Peter, when I last birded on Figueroa Mountain on May 17 I encountered a group of birders who said they too had observed Purple Martins in the area. I did not go to the Summit and did not see them myself, but this other group posted their list here:https://ebird.org/atlascalifornia/checklist/S341343928. they also reported seeing three Purple Martins.
