- Refugio Creek Canyon, Santa Barbara, California

- Comments: "A stunning brilliant red tanager with black wings and tail. First found here earlier this morning by Lynn Scarlett. Observed in the sycamores overhanging the road and also the nearby oaks at (34.5015689, -120.0662602). This location is immediately south of the yellow intersection sign for turning left (west) into the avocado orchard. The bird sang quite often sounding like a hoarse American Robin. Sometimes the tanager and the robin would sing nearly at the same time making it easier to compare the two similar songs. Thanks to Sophie Cameron for first spotting this bird at 1:25 PM when we were there."
