Passing along a message from John McLaughlin, who kept us apprised last year of the Mississippi Kites nesting in the Tuthill neighborhood of Sioux Falls (off 49th and Southeastern):
"I saw a Mississippi Kite in the Tuthill neighborhood yesterday, May 26, fly out of the same tree a pair nested in last summer. It flew west toward Tuthill Park and it seemed to have nesting material in its beak. The house next door to the yard it nested in last year has a fairly active construction project underway on the backside of the house. I hope this does not discourage the Kite from nesting in the same tree. Last year this time there were also similar home improvement projects underway nearby. I do not see a nest under construction in the tree, but I will continue to look for activity. I have not seen the Kite this morning (May 28)."
