Subject: [sbcobirding] No sign of Reddish Egret
I checked the Carpinteria Salt marsh this morning, where I met up with David and Linda Blue.  None of us were able to turn up the reported Reddish Egret there.  I checked all the channels, including the one behind the fence at EStero Way.
The Little Blue Heron was still present.  It flew from the Creek Channel into the muddy area south and east of the creek, where it foraged in the channels there and was easily observed from the main path.
We also checked the Carpinteria Creek Estuary but did not turn up the Reddish Egret there.  Species variety at this location was poor--99% Western Gulls.  But I did spot a Basic-plumaged Willet at the estuary mouth.
The tide was not low enough to permit walking the beach west from Ash Avenue going around the jetty, and checking out the estuary mouth.  It might be another place to look when conditions are right.
