- Carpinteria Salt Marsh Nature Park, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.5283666&<ll...>,-119.5283666 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S345989721 - Comments: "Darkish blue body with reddish head ... thought it was a little blue heron (which I've never seen) but when I reverse image searched Merlin presented me with Reddish Egret, which seems more likely. Had a taller posture and beautiful "mane". Have photo to upload"
Northern Parula (Setophaga americana) (1)
- Reported May 24, 2026 10:37 by Daniel Farrar
- Refugio Creek Canyon, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.0666796&<ll...>,-120.0666796 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S345840281 - Comments: "Seen about here: 34.4955549, -120.0665297. First heard singing a little downstream. Then later heard a loud unusual warbler chip and saw it fly into an oak. It popped out showing its yellow throat and bluish gray head with eye arcs. The side view showed two white wing bars and a greenish back. Unfortunately there was traffic at the time and could not get on it for a photo before it went deeper into the oak. Saw it fly out across to the sycamores and lost track of it. Heard it sing it's ascending zippy song once more but could not coax it out. Probably moving up the canyon."
