A quick update here on the Southern California Lesser Frigatebird (most info taken from Nick Thorpe's listserv post to the San Diego group). The bird reportedly continued for most of the day, being seen largely from the San Clemente Pier in Orange County. It was last reported at 8:24 PM by Ezekiel Dobson when it was seen around the Trestles Beach Trail in San Diego County as it moved apparently inland, likely/possibly to roost. It is possible that very early tomorrow morning the bird will be visible from the Trestles Beach Trail, so for anyone planning to search for the bird tomorrow this could be a potential starting spot. If this fails, the next best spot would likely be the San Clemente Pier where it has been seen previously. Good luck to all who chase this bird!
