Subject: Marion County record Black-headed Grosbeak
I was very happy this morning to see a Black-headed Grosbeak on my farm. I do not see it on the county check list, so I think that it is a county record.
There are still quite a few migrants around. Many Empids are still present. Although, none are calling.
A couple of things of note for spring migration in Marion County. I saw my first “Audubon’s” Yellow-rumped Warbler in the county. Also, the number of Palm Warbler seen was high. I was seeing them every day for about a week. Usually, I only see 1 or 2 a year. One day I saw 3 this year. I hope all are having an enjoyable spring of birding. Best wishes, Jim Nickel Peabody, Ks
