The Festival of Birds at Presque Isle this past weekend tallied at least 160 species (preliminary total).
It was a great weekend with nice weather most of the time. Migrant numbers were not that high but there was a good variety and plenty of birds to enjoy at the park. This was my third year attending and leading field trips.
Amar Ayyash was the keynote speaker on Saturday evening. We learned about gulls of course which was interesting and informative, injected with some humor.
I met people who traveled from Rochester, NY, North Carolina, Ohio and Baltimore, MD to attend, so the festival drew in birders from neighoring states. I'm sure there were more.
