Subject: [ia-bird] Bobolinks in Dallas Co.
After a few minutes of watching the Sandhill Cranes and colt in the stubble field in Dallas County just south and east of 210th and Y avenue, I proceeded south one half mile on Y avenue to see if the bobolinks had returned to the field just north (downhill) from the former Brenton Feedlots.

They have.

I counted at least 3 but suspect the number was higher. I also saw 5 ring-necked pheasants, meadowlarks (both eastern and western were singing), dickcissels, a grasshopper sparrow, and the ubiquitous red winged blackbirds.

Merlin kept reporting a yellow headed blackbird but I could neither see or hear it myself, but not for lack of trying.

Bird Well,
Pip Fisher
Polk County
