Subject: [ia-bird] Prothonotary warbler-Ely Ford-Van Buren County
I was surprised to hear and then see a Prothontary Warbler at Ely Ford in
Lacey-Leo State Park. I’ve never seen this species here in all my years of
birding this spot, so it was a wonderful sighting. It was in the tall trees
at the edge of the river near the bridge that you go over to walk the trail
to the east. I came to see my usuals at Ely Ford (Yellow throated warblers
and Northern) and saw neither of them, but I’ll take a gorgeous Prothontary
any day!
