Tropical Kingbird (Tyrannus melancholicus) (1)
- Reported May 09, 2026 11:33 by John Deacon
- Jim May Park (formerly River Oaks Park), Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.4258633&<ll...>,-120.4258633 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S335661852 - Media: 4 Photos
- Comments: "Two Tropical Kingbirds had been reported. While 2 Kingbirds were at the site and interacting, I couldn't get pictures of the second bird nor was I able to get good enough looks to confirm a second TRKI. Large beak, yellow breast, lack of white malar stripe, lack of white at the tip of the tail or on the outer edges of the retrices and the notched tail indicate TRKI. I couldn't hear them vocalizing. I checked Lehman's BOS and this is indeed late for TRKI."
Bell's Vireo (Vireo bellii) (2)
- Reported May 09, 2026 06:58 by Dawn Hovey
- Frontage Rd at 34.43989 -119.93433, Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-119.93433&<ll...>,-119.93433 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S335704703 - Media: 1 Audio
- Comments: "Continuing bird at (34.43989, -11993433) originally found by Hannah Cox. Heard clear song repeatedly in a patch of Castor Bean, then clearly saw a Bell's Vireo (pale breast and belly, pale lores, faint eye ring) at the back of the patch. The observed bird was not vocalizing, but the hidden, closer bird continued to sing while I watched."
