Back in my hometown in Oswego County this weekend and as the sky darkened into night I heard a sound that I had never heard there before - the curious "pump-er-lunk" of an American Bittern. Have heard them in the morning at Montezuma but as the blackness of night surrounded us this bird continued his strange call over and over....
