Weather:
The morning started out mostly cloudy with light WNW winds. The clouds soon
cleared and it became mostly blue skies. Winds shifted to the north and
increased to 10-15mph. Temps started in the low 40s and reached a high of
53F. Around 3pm, clouds returned only letting small bits of sun through.
Raptor Observations:
Today was relatively slow with a total of 53 birds seen. There were 22
Broad-winged Hawks, 16 Turkey Vultures, 10 Bald Eagles, and 4 Sharp-shinned
Hawks. The highlight of the day was a beautiful adult Peregrine Falcon that
flew over.
Non-raptor Observations:
Even though there wasnt much songbird movement last night, there were a
couple species of warblers in the parking lot. A male Black-throated Blue
Warbler and a male Cape May Warbler were feeding in the flowering trees.
There was also my first Eastern Warbling Vireo of the year in the woods
behind the pavilion.
