The book is a history and has personal anecdotes about his family. I think that it of course leaves out the post 2015 or so developments. And they are of course huge Did you read the bio of the mRNA nobel winner — she did her work at Penn. I can retrieve her name. I Back to the Gene it explains gender/ gene stuff and some of the politics if you will in funding publication, etc

Yesterday I drove up Sandbank Road on the south side of Ithaca to look for Bobolinks near the new apple cider business and noted quite a few “No parking” signs along the road there.

Probably due to all of us birdwatchers parking along there to see the Bobolinks when they come.

I did not see any yesterday, but it was quite foggy and rainy. There were a lot of Redwinged blackbirds.

Too bad the cider place has obliterated a lot of long-grass areas the Bobs & Red wings used to use.

Heard my first Bobolink of the year singing in the fields along Mt Pleasant Read about 9:30 this morning. Couldn't get a visual ID through the fog and drizzle!
Eastern Meadowlarks have been up there for several weeks already. Savannah Sparrows too.
Ah, Spring!
