Weather: Rain & drizzle delayed the start but eventually precip. calmed down. Overcast but for a brief 1/2 hour before the cloud filled back in completely. Winds were pretty much calm or very light & variable for the 1st 3 hours. Wind freshened for the last 1 1/2 hrs and was cold & from the west.
Raptor Observations: The 1st 2 hours only saw 1 local Bald Eagle & 1 local Cooper's Hawk. 2 adult Bald Eagles migrated together during the brief 1/2 hr of sun. Otherwise a small # of Broadwings & Red-tails, 1 Turkey Vulture, 1 Cooper's and 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk. In the last 1/2 hr a few of the local Turkey Vultures floated up and back down again.
Non-raptor Observations: Great Egret, 5 DC Corms,& a pair of Common Mergs on the pond. A number of Chimney Swifts zoomed around and 1 turkey walked across the road through the woods. Plus the usual suspects - grackles, redwings, starlings, killdeer, crows, etc.
Predictions: National Weather Service is calling for, "A chance of showers, mainly after 5pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 51. West wind 6 to 15 mph." Things have been held up with this stretch of April-like weather so maybe some movement. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Jim Landau (<landaujr...>)
