Tropical Kingbird (Tyrannus melancholicus) (2)
- Reported May 03, 2026 10:42 by Daniel Farrar
- Jim May Park (formerly River Oaks Park), Santa Barbara, California
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&<q...>,-120.4258633&<ll...>,-120.4258633 - Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S332057408 - Media: 9 Photos
- Comments: "Originally IDed as a Tropical based on apparent large bill, yellow up to throat and notched tail lacking white outer tail feathers. No vocalizations heard. Both birds appeared similar to each other and I did not note any major differences. Some concern was expressed over bill size, how the yellow washes up chest and dark undertail so switched to kingbird sp. but switched back to TK for eBird review. Hopefully others follow up and get some decent photos. I've included all photos, some cropped and processed, but they are substandard digiscope images. Both birds were together just over the bridge towards the pond. I believe the photos are off both birds but am not 100% certain. The two sets are of one more up close than the other."
