Subject: [Ohio-birds] Hamilton county - migration
Almost non existent! I was more than a bit surprised! It’s happened before - big
Forecast of birds moving, but they keep on moving…… oh well! Swainsons thrushes
We’re around. I rarely track one down as one always seems to cross my path for a
Visual. Sure enough….. one flushed for a great look at Bortz!

Lincoln’s sparrows were around in good numbers. That’s more of a fall bird. Interesting.

I missed a Dickcissel by 20 minutes or so. Birds - they move! Baltimore orioles were singing
Everywhere! Some were migrants I presume. Etc. etc.

But my moment of the season - so far - just might be the hooded Merg family I ran into
At Shaker trace. Cuteness - no other word! A momma and 10 little fuzzballs. Just born?
They were so tiny. But boy did they scamper off after momma when she noticed me! She
Called for them. Wow! And I picked up Virginia rail for the big year.

And some damselflies!

Good birding all. I have a previous commitment for Tues. no birding. So that means
It probably will be a good migrant morning! Sigh…..
