I love Blue Jay migration! It happens in the daytime, and the birds are big and slow and easy to ID, with the individuals rather spread out, and what looks to me like rather weak flapping. Also these Blue Jays are quiet, which is a bit eerie. It's counterintuitive we have Blue Jays migrating past (spring and autumn) when they also stay here year round, but I understand that some of the population, especially from Canada, migrates, and who migrates is not based on age or gender. The northbound flocks gather along Lake Ontario in the spring and fly east around the water, so they are another treat if you are going to a hawk watch, but I have seen them over Ithaca and over Arnot Forest, which are not particular concentration areas.
