Subject: [slocobirding] Morro Bay yard birds again...
Hi Birders,

I'm joining in on the recent fun posts for FOS yard visitors. A FOS Swainson's Thrush visited the yard this morning. While not considered rare for this time of year it was a FOS for this location. Hermit Thrush had been a frequent visitor throughout the winter but has been missing from here for a few weeks

On April 3 I noticed a Dark-eyed Junco in the yard with an interesting molt pattern. I have been admiring juncos since I was a kid and do not recall ever seeing one in this transitional plumage. I did some research on DEJU molt, BOW, Google etc that left me with a few questions which I have now passed on to a few birder friends. I have come to the conclusion that this plumage represents a DEJU in pre-alternate molt 1. I have been unable to find any photos showing this molt pattern. Thoughts anyone ?
