Hi birders,
One of the migrant species that I track in my neighborhood are
Black-headed Grosbeaks. Today around 1:30pm we had 4 individuals, 2
adult males and 2 adult females in view at the same time in our garden.
They were "taking turns" i.e. squabbling, working out among themselves,
the order in which they would take seed from our feeders. Today was the
first day that I saw so many at the same time.
Quite happy to see them. I wish them a very successful breeding season.
In other migrant news, Wilson's Warblers, Violette-green Swallows, and
Hooded Orioles continue to sing and/or appear near our home, along with
occasional Allen's Hummingbirds and Warbling Vireos.
