Unfortunately, these phishing emails that spoof HMBC officers or directors are a long-running recurring issue. There's no particularly good way to prevent them, as the names, titles, etc are public information, as are emails for many members (from club publications etc). The best advice is to view any vague email reaching out for "assistance", especially anything to do with payments, with a lot of skepticism, and just delete. Particularly note that the emails of the purported senders are generally not correct.
Likewise, we have had a recurring issue on HMBirds with inappropriate messages promoting commercial activity (namely, air-duct cleaning). Admin understands these are inappropriate and the poster emails are immediately blocked. However, there is no real way to prevent the recurrence with a new email address.
