Piggybacking on this, for anyone who hasn’t read Jack E. Davis’ The Gulf, he does an exceptional job explaining how Gulf conservation, the seafood industry, the oil industry, culture, politics, and tourism all compete for interests that affect Gulf wildlife. It’s a full history from Native Americans and the Conquistadors to after Deepwater Horizon. Pulitzer prize winning book for history. Just finished it myself.
