Date: 4/21/26 6:13 am From: Don Morrow <donaldcmorrow...> Subject: Re: [NFLbirds] Red-headed Woodpecker migration
I've had RHWOs in Spring migration at the refuge twice. Once a wet and
bedraggled bird sitting in the middle of Lighthouse Road after a
mid-morning rainstorm in early April. The second time was watching a lone
bird flying in from the East across the marshes on Lighthouse Road near the
Double Dikes. It landed in a tree, took one look at me and flew west. Both
birds were definitely migrating and a peninsular origin would make sense
for both birds.
