Subject: [MBBIRDS] Field trip
Several folks showed up today at Twin Gates along Empire Grade to attempt a
glimpse of Hermit Warblers and Golden-crowned Kinglets.
Early on, we had a gorgeous male Hermit Warbler respond to a recording, and
perch quite confidingly on a branch about 20 feet up. It sat there for
quite a while, singing and looking around for its invisible adversary.
Everyone got great looks.
Attached are 2 images taken by Tom Hambleton. Thanks, Tom!
We heard several other Hermit Warblers, but alas, we struck out on the
Kinglets.
The main rain held off the entire time we were out.
We'll do it again on the 29th, so come on out if you haven't seen one or
the other of these two species. Hope to see you soon!
