We had eight people on our Three Rivers Birding field trip to Hurshtown Reservoir yesterday afternoon. When we first started out, it was so windy up on the berm that I had to hold on to my scope to keep it from blowing over. But the winds seemed to settle down a little later as we made our way around the impoundment. There wasn't a lot of waterfowl on the water. We did have a few loons, grebes, and mergansers. We also had an assortment of newly arriving swallows, including Barn and Cliff Swallows and some Purple Martins. We ended up with a total of twenty species. Trip leader: John Winebrenner
