The weekly spring bird walk produced 52 species of birds on the morning of April 19th at Ft. Harrison State Park, Indianapolis. Several other species were seen/heard before the walk but not during and re not included in the list below. Those include Wood Thrush, Louisiana Waterthrush, and Solitary Sandpiper. The bird walk was lively and produced 11 warbler species and multiple first of the years for most participants.
Highlights included Green Heron, Eastern Kingbird, Eastern Warbling Vireo, 11 warbler species, and Scarlet Tanager. Warbler highlights included two Orange-crowned Warblers, Nashville Warbler, Northern Waterthrush, Black-and-white Warbler, Pine Warbler, and Ovenbird. At least one individual of all 11 warbler species were seen!!! The complete list is below.
Free bird walks will be held each Sunday in April and May at Ft. Harrison. Meet at 8am in the NE corner of Delaware Lake parking lot.
