We had a sudden influx of female purple finches at our feeders today. Nine at least and one males. We previously had 4-5 males some days last week. we had a male or two and one female occasionally during winter. Anne Sent from my iPhone

Hi John, I’ve had similar numbers of Purple Finches at my feeders for 3-4 weeks, as happens most every year here on Tupper Road, West Danby. -Geo

Worth noting is the very unusual congregation of finches dining here for going on to three weeks. While our norm over the last 38 years is regular visits by small numbers, this contingent is heavy on Purple Finch with many fewer House and Goldfinch. This morning we counted 18 PUFI, a dozen PUFI and 1 House. While few Hofi have been visiting, PUFIs have been running in the teens daily. We've seen a few other reports of Pufi numbers, the geographic spread is worthy of this list requesting more such reporting.
