Subject: [NHBirds] Red Crossbills
Well, our winter visitors have not all left the Mt. Washington Valley yet, as today had 2 flyover, calling Red Crossbills as well as Pine Siskin, Purple Finches and Dark-eyed Juncos around my feeder. As an aside, other than the Pine Siskins, the other three species can be found in the summer not so far away. On the other hand, had my first yard Broad-winged Hawk perched atop an Eastern Hemlock where they appeared last year with some regularity.

On a separate subject, it has been fun to see the molting into breeding plumage for American Goldfinches (AGOL). The variety of plumages in a flock of AGOL's at this time of year is fascinating.
