Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 16:00:00 Total observation time: 7 hours
Official Counter: Rob Woodward
Observers:
Visitors: 31, including one nice lady who yelled out a big bird for me that turned out to be (yet) another Turkey Vulture. But I thank you for playing.
Weather: At 9:00 visibility was zero. My scope dripped from blowing mist. At 10:50 the first patch of blue sky appeared and at 11:00 the fire tower on Belknap Mountain became visibble. By 12:25 Mt Shaw was out of the clouds and soon all low clouds were gone. After that it was full sun with high wispy clouds. Winds were light to moderate from the ESE; 46 - 63 F.
Raptor Observations: The first Turkey Vulture didn't fly by until 10:45 and the first hawk, a Sharp-shin, at 11:05 so the first 2 hours were lost to poor conditions. Surprisingly, no kettles formed today. Are easterly winds unfavorable in spring?
Non-raptor Observations: First black flies of the year.
Predictions: Rain tomorrow, NW winds Monday so next count is either Tues or Wednesday. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Rob Woodward (<toucanrob...>)
