Boldly streaked black and white pattern; black upperparts with white streaks; grayish-white face; white eyering; eyeline starting behind the eye; black crown with broad white center stripe; broad white supercilium; white throat and underparts; black streaks on the flanks; black spots on the undertail; two white wingbars; sharply pointed bill."

- Comments: "Possible candidate, seen briefly in the trees at the coordinates 35.26771° N, 120.66039° W ; wind picking up and didn’t manage to get a photo. Also silent and did not respond to playback. Gray back, yellow underneath, yellow throat, bold eye ring going through the gray cap, and faint ring of streaking across the chest. Not very bold streaking so probably a female / immature. Seen these before in Maine."
